Conformance Checking of Executed Clinical Guidelines in Presence of Basic Medical Knowledge
نویسندگان
چکیده
Clinical Guidelines (CGs) capture medical evidence, but are not meant to deal with single patients’ peculiarities and specific context limitations and/or constraints. In practice, the physician has to exploit basic medical knowledge (BMK) in order to adapt the general CG to the specific case at hand. The interplay between CG knowledge and BMK can be very complex. In this paper, we explore such interaction from the viewpoint of the conformance problem, intended as the adherence of an observed CG execution trace to both types of knowledge. We propose an approach based on the GLARE language to represent CGs, and on an homogeneous formalization of both CGs and BMK using Event Calculus (EC) and its Prolog-based implementation REC, focusing on “a posteriori” conformance evaluation.

Conformance Analysis of Execution Traces with Clinical Guidelines and Basic Medical Knowledge in Answer Set Programming
Clinical Guidelines (CGs) are developed for specifying the “best” clinical procedures for specific clinical circumstances. However, a CG is executed on a specific patient, with her peculiarities, and in a specific context, with its limitations and constraints. Physicians have to use Basic Medical Knowledge (BMK) in order to adapt the general CG to each specific case, even if the interplay betwe...
متن کاملChecking Guideline Conformance of Medical Protocols Using Modular Model Checking
Medical guidelines and protocols are documents aimed at improving the quality of medical care by offering support in medical decision making in the form of management recommendations based on scientific evidence. Whereas medical guidelines are intended for nation-wide use, and thus omit medical management details that may differ among hospitals, medical protocols are aimed at local use within h...
متن کاملProcess Conformance Checking by Relaxing Data Dependencies
Given the events modeled by a business process, it may happen in the presence of alternative execution paths that the data required by a certain event determines somehow what event is executed next. Then, the process can be modeled by using an approximate functional dependency between the data required by both events. We apply this approach in the context of conformance checking: given a busine...

متن کاملInterns' View About Basic Medical Sciences: Their Knowledge And Attitude To National Comprehensive Exam And Basic Medical Courses In Isfahan University Of Medical Sciences
Introduction: Medical education in Iran has four stages: Basic Medical Science (BMS), Pathophysiology, Clinical Clerkship, and Internship. The relevance of basic medical course contents to professional practice needs is considered to be a problem in such traditional curriculum. Also, diminished retention of the content is another problem. These two problems are explored in this study. Methods: ...
